DTI stresses country of origin on products

The Department of Trade and Industry has once again emphasised that South Africa is not calling for the boycott of Israeli goods or products.

The Departmental Spokesperson Sidwell Medupe says this follows the marches in Pretoria and Cape Town on Friday, under the banner of the African Christian Democratic Party and Inkatha Freedom Party to hand over petitions.

Medupe says that their petition is against the proposal that was issued for public comment by the Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies.

Medupe added that as the Department they want to ensure that South Africans are provided with accurate country of origin when buying.
