Western Cape transport officials will be investigating the fatal crash which took place on Wednesday morning on the Aberdeen Road in the Eastern Cape.
A mini-bus passed through the Western Cape’s Average Speed Over Distance network on the R61 between Beaufort-West and the provincial border.
Shortly after the mini-bus left the Western Cape it crashed.
Seven people were killed in the crash and twelve were injured.
The MEC for Transport and Public Works in the Western Cape Robin Carlisle’s spokesperson Siphesihle Dube said it was captured that the mini-bus was travelling at an average speed of 128km/h.
Dube said police is still investigating the accident as well as the Department of Transport and Public Works.
