27 traffic roadblocks in the WC

Last night in the Western Cape traffic authorities had seven roadblocks on all the national and main roads of the Western Cape.

Seven hundred and twenty three vehicles were stopped and tested three hundred and thirty two drivers for being under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says the highest blood alcohol level was 0.95, which is over 4 times the legal limit in the Vreedenberg area.He said the highest speed 112 km/h in a 70km Knysna.

“R39 700 worth of fines were issued during the course of the night”.

1 fatality was recorded on the  N2 outside George.

One driver was arrested in Swellendam reckless and negligent driving and 195 people were arrested for exceeding speed limit.
