Mayor of the City of Cape Town Patricia de Lille has offered a reward of R50 000 to anyone who has information that would lead to the arrest of those who were involved in the murder of a metro police officer yesterday.

It is alleged that the officer was issuing a ticket to a taxi driver, when a couple of males at the scene fired shots at him.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Richard Bosman said that the officer died on the scene.

The shooting took place around half past six in the evening in Khayelitsha yesterday.
