The National Sea Rescue Institute and the Table Bay volunteer sea rescue crew were activated on Wednesday following a report of a missing student at Clifton Fourth Beach
The 23 year-old was swimming at Duiker Rock, with fellow college students.
The SA Police Services, Western Cape Government Health EMS , the City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management EMS Skymed helicopter assisted in the search.
NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said during a Police dive search the body of the man was located and recovered from under water and recovered onto a sea rescue craft and declared deceased by paramedics.
Lambinon added that the body of the man has been handed into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services.
