A suspect wounded in a cash heist

A suspect was wounded in a shootout between the robbers and cash in transit security guards during a heist.

The incident occurred at N1 City Mall in Cape Town earlier today.

The cash in transit van was busy with a pick-up at a bank when one of the suspects, allegedly fired a shot at the security guards.

Police Spokesperson Andre Traut said one of the suspects got injured during the shooting and was arrested.

Traut said another suspect managed to get away with an undiscloed amount of money.

He added that police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
