The Chief Executive Officer of the South African Airways Siza Mzimela today resigned.

Last week the Company`s Chairperson Cheryl Corolus and six other board members stepped down citing lack of support from the Department of Public Enterprises.

The Democratic Alliance has called for an urgent meeting with the Public Enterprise Minister Malusi Gigaba.

The DA Shadow Minister of Public Enterprise Natasha Michael said that they want the Minister to explain how he will prevent the grounding of SAA.

Michael added that they had also requested a meeting with Minister Gigaba to discuss their proposal to privatise the national carrier.
