Metrorail motor coach derailed at Glencairn station

The first motor coach derailed at Glencairn Station today.

The train was preparing to depart from the station when the incident occured, and was still in the station, when the first carriage’s wheels slid off the tracks.

Metrorail Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz there were no injuries reported.

Swartz said the technicians and engineers are at the scene and they will work over night to ensure that the service is restored.

He further said that Buses have been arranged to operate between Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town Station.

He urged customers to make their own arrangements, because the traffic congestion in the area will determine how quickly the alternative transport arrives.
