Policeman shoots four and kills himself

Four people including a six year-old child were seriously injured in Mossel Bay when a police officer opened fire on them and then shot himself.

The incident occurred in Da Gamaskop on Sunday.

It is understood the officer was on duty at the time. He is alleged to have gone over to a female constable's home where a quarrel ensued and shots were fired.

Constable Pienaar was hit with several bullets, and sustained serius injuries to her upper body and leg.

 In the room with her were the constable’s mother, 6 year-old daughter and partner.

After fleeing the scene, he died of a single shot to the head.
