President
Jacob Zuma has admitted that uncertainty around land reform is one of the
causes of the decrease in the number of commercial farmers.
Zuma was addressing
the African Farmers Association in Pretoria last night.
He said this had led to a decrease in total
production levels, a higher volume of food imports and higher food prices.
Government
is aware that farmers need improved support in this difficult period.
This includes financial support, market
access, as well as training and capacity development.
