100 houses destroyed in St Francis Bay

At least 100 houses have burnt down in a raging fire in St Francis Bay in the Eastern Cape.

Kouga Municipality spokesperson Laura-Leigh Randall says at least ten fire engines were on the scene battling the flames till late into the night because of strong winds.

Damage so far has been estimated at well over 100-million-Rand.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this stage but no serious injuries have been reported.
