The Road Traffic Management today said October was a
significant month in the transport fraternity as it focused on massive public
education campaigns.
RTM spokesperson Ashref Ismail said 3, 309 motorists were
arrested during October Public Transport month.
Ismail added that 311 drivers were arrested for drunken
diving, 38 for reckless and drunken driving and 856 for excessive speed.
The departments Decade of Action 2011/2012 campaign seeks to
reduce the number of crashes in the country by 50 percent by 2020.
