Five people appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court yesterday on charges of fraud and corruption relating to a multi-million rand security tender.
Four are former employees of the Northern Cape Department of Public Works whilst the fifth suspect is currently a senior official within the department.
The group was arrested yesterday after a lengthy Hawks and police investigation.
They secured a R47 million security tender in 2006 to provide services to schools. No services were rendered.
