The action by the Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa to try and stop the Commission of Inquiry in Khayelitsha has not been received well.
Treatment Action Campaign’s Mike Hamca said the commission is about the rights of all people living inSouth Africa
The Minister is today lodging a High Court interdict application.
He added that the Minister needs to be transparent in order for the commission to take place as this will open up the trust bridge in the people because at present the people has lost al trust in the policing service.
The Commission has since been suspended until further notice.

Mthethwa is afraid to have the inquiry go ahead as planned and wants to know
why he wants to do it independently, he also said he wants to know what the
Minister’s reason is behind him wanting to do that.
