Correctional Services Ndebele to host round table

Minister of Correctional Services Sibusiso Ndebele will be hosting a round table next week.

The aim of the round table is to discuss overcrowding in prisons alternative sentencing as well as the draft White Paper on Remand Detention Management in South Africa.

The department hopes it will find a solution to the country’s high rate of incarceration.

Department Spokesperson Logan Maistry said South Africa has 51.8million citizens and our rate of imprisonment ranks amongst the top ten in the world.
