Fingo township
residents in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape have appealed
to the Makana Municipality to fast-track the eradication of the bucket system due to it being a
health hazard.
They say the system
is still in use despite promises of flushing toilets by the municipality eight
months ago.
Chairperson of the Street Committee, Ntombi
Ogqoyi said residents say the toilet structures have been built but the
plumbing remains unfinished.
Others were told to
move out of their houses because the sewerage pipes run across their plots.
