The Eastern Cape Department of Education in September advertised the availability of 3 650 teaching posts.
Provincial MEC Mandla Makhupula has stated
that the Department has no intention of filling the 3650 posts advertised.
Makhupula was responding to DA questions in
the legislature’s education committee on Tuesday.
Democratic Alliance`s Edmund Van said that
the department had created expectations amongst educators.
“ That is uncalled for,if you knew in the
first place you were not going to fill those positions, and you only put out
this bulletin (the 3 650 advertised posts) to comply with the court order”
he said.
