The Federation of Unions of South Africa has strongly condemned violence linked to farmworkers’ strike in the Western Cape.
Fedusa’s General Secretary Dennis George said they support the right to strike as an important tool in the hands of the workers, but it must be done in a proper way.
]He added that they believe that there must be an appropriate approach and talks between workers and employees to deal with these matters.
He feels that it is not appropriate that people are behaving in the manner in which they are behaving.
He said that it is also not fair that people are being brought in from other areas to come and participate in these kinds of actions.
He now calls on all parties to take action and to stop using violence to solve their problems.
