The City of Cape Town, and the region, is known as the economic hub of the province, more than eighty percent of the Western Cape population live.
The region generates more than three quarters of the provincial product.
The Western Cape MEC of transport and public works Robin Carlisle today said that the integrated public transport system will be highly efficient and accessible to the millions of commuters who use it.
He adds that it then becomes crucial part of creating more jobs and will also help with easing the quality of life for the poorest of the poor.
Today the City and the Department also highlighted some of the progress that has been made so far, in particular the communication of public transport.
MEC Carlisle adds that communication plays a huge roll of the integration process of the commuter transport.
One of the main and great advances are that the Western Cape Transport department have made information available in this regard via cell phone.
And this will happen as soon as the City has achieved the one way integrated transport system ,however the metro site has been working and it will be upgraded as soon as the system is up and running
