Three alleged armed robbers were arrested by the Western Cape Metrorail Protection Services over the weekend.

Regional Manager of Metrorail in the province Mthuthuzeli Swart said the arrests follow in the wake of increasing ticket office robberies at stations over the past four weeks.

Swart said on each occasion Metrorail station employees were held at gunpoint while their assailants made off with the money.

Swartz further said that images captured on surveillance cameras were so clear and instrumental in positive identification of the culprits.

He added that Metrorail would not hold back and would not expose their customers and employees to criminal elements.
