The De Doorns farm workers’ strike has been put on hold until next week, farm workers in Montagu have begun to protest for better wages.

Workers swear not to return to their duties until their demand of R150 a day has been met.

Today, the workers are gathering in the streets in Montagu in protest.

The worker’s spokesperson Samuel Duplessis says that the R80 that the workers get a day is exploitation.

“People in Montague; have come out in demonstration today because they are unhappy of the minimum wage that is put on the table.”

He added that the people are season-working areas.
