Petrol price to decrease

The Energy Department today announced that the price of petrol will decrease by 10 cents per litre.

Diesel will cost between nine and 10 cents more per litre. Paraffin will go up by three cents, and gas users will pay one cent more per more kilogram.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa has reported a 10.5 percent increase in car sales last month, due to lowered interest rates.

The export of locally manufactured vehicles has declined by just over three percent.

Naamsa says strikes at various manufacturing plants have affected productivity and export.

The Association said it is aware that a rise in inflation and a weak rand could push vehicle prices unsustainably higher.
