The Western Cape Provincial Disaster Management Centre, took the lead from the National Disaster Management Centre, and has tested the Western Cape Indian Ocean Tsunami warning systems earlier today.
The primary purpose of the exercise is to assess the communication flow and early warning messaging between National Disaster Management, the Western Cape provincial Disaster Management Centre, the district municipalities and the City of Cape Town
Colin Diener said “we warned all the ocean districts as well as the city, and they needed to get their warning systems tested and activated”.
