A 37 year old teacher at Mafikeng High in the North West was dismissed today after she was found to have been involved in a relationship with a 16 year-old learner at the school.

The School Governing Body held a meeting on Thursday where the teacher’s resignation letter was dismissed and the teacher was fired.

School Governing Body Chairman Lesiba Moses Kgwele said they are so disappointed by the educator’s conduct.

Kgwele also said the evidence given by the parent of the learner was enough for them to fire the educator, because the parent brought a cell phone audio visual between the educator and the learner.

He adds that the teacher violated the South African Council of Educators code of professional ethics.
