On Tuesday about 315 Parmalat employees embarked on a strike

The workers are employed via a labour broker called Workforce.

Representative Harry Witbooi said the workers elected a committee about three months ago to negotiate on their behalf.

Witbooi explains what the workers demands include sick leave, annual leave, protective clothing, provident fund and transport.

The parties are currently engaged in negotiations and will not back off until the wages and yearly bonus has been agreed to.

The workers are willing to engage on the other demands at the beginning of the New Year.

Workers feel that Workforce was called by Parmalat to further enslave the community of Bonnievale.
