Thousands of farmworkers throughout the province are expected to benefit from a R250,000 donation of food packages.
Friday The
Oceana Group donated the money on.
Farmworkers
from eight areas, which are affected by the strike will be receiving food
parcels.
In
November, 16 provincial farming areas went on a strike for an increased wages
of R150 per day.
The
Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Department's Palesa Mokomele said Oceana
surprised them with the donation, after the department made an appeal to the
private sector and government for the food parcels.
“Oceana
will officially bring us the food early next week, and the communities will receive
their food before Christmas” Mokomele said.
