WC weekend roadblock stats

The Western Cape Traffic Department conducted 24 road blocks over the course of the weekend thus far.

2 284 vehicles were stopped, and 962 drivers tested for alcohol. 31 people were arrested for drunk driving.

The highest alcohol reading recorded was 1.24 mg/l in the Brackenvel area.  

Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said that four other drivers were arrested for different reasons including giving false information and public transport related issues.

“The total of R148 020 was the total amount of fines issued, 39 600 vehicles were checked for speed and 2614 drivers were arrested for exceeding the speed limit” Africa said.
