49 people arrested in the Western Cape over the weekend

The City of Cape Town Metro Police officers arrested 49 people for drunk driving and drug related offences during patrols and operations across the city over the weekend.

The operations were held in various areas across Cape Town.

Metro Police Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro 136 traffic fines were issued.

Faro said 12 motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol during a joint operation in Lwandle with members from the local police station.

Some people were arrested for drugs and others for public violence and public drinking in various areas.
