The matric results released today showed a great improvement on some of the schools that were earmarked for closure by the Western Cape Department of Education.

Zonebloem Nest in the City Bowl had 97% in 2012 results compared to 85% in 2011.
The Peak View High in Athlone has dramatically improved from 18,7% in 2011 up to 74,4% in 2012.

The African National Congress in the Province has called for the MEC of Education Donald Grant to resign.

ANC Provincial Chairperson Marius Fransman said the Democratic Alliance is proven wrong by the matric 2012 results.

Fransman adds that the ANC congratulates these learners on their sterling performance and encouraged all others to keep working hard to attain their goals.
