Cosas- Publication of matric results invades privacy

About 44,000 grade 12 pupils in the Western Cape will get their results on Thursday. 

The Provincial Education Department said they are confident about a good matric pass rate.

The Congress of South African Students, for the last three years has been calling for matric results to be banned from newspapers.

Cosas KwaZulu-Natal Chairperson, Goodman Machi, says 'matric results are a private thing that should not be publicised.

Cosas Western Cape Provincial Secretary Samkelo Mqomboti says the publication of results leads to learners committing suicide.

Mqomboti said the publication of results invades learners` privacy.
