DA questions Joemat-Peterson handing striking farmworkers food parcels

The Democatic Alliance has noted that the Minister of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat Peterson has given food parcels to farmworkers’ in the Western Cape.

The DA calls on the Minister to explain the alleged expenditure on food parcels being used to encourage violent unrest in the Western Cape.

DA’s Annette Steyn said that the chairman of the Porfolio Committee to call Minister joemat-Peterson to find out why the striking people were given food parcels.

“We are worried that food parcels were given to the communities to assist people to stay away from work and to be part of the protest action” Steyn said.

Steyn added that after receiving the food parcels, some people felt obligated to join the strike.
