The Democratic Alliance called on Premier Ace Magashule and Richard Baloyi to make official submissions to the Demarcation Board advising against the merger of Sasolburg and Parys municipalities.

The DA says neither Magasula nor Baloyi has been able to show merit for a merger proposal.

DA Free State Provincial Leader Patricia Kopane said it was clear that ANC internal politics were behind the reason for the merger.

“It has come to a great cost to the community of Sasolburg; people have lost their lives, property destroyed and the community themselves has turned against themselves” Kopane added.
