The Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities is calling on the public to comment on the content of the First Country Report to the United Nations, on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Departmental Director Thabo Sephuma said the CRPD reporting process allows South Africans an opportunity to critically analyse the situation and status of persons with disabilities in the country.

Sephuma explains further that all inputs are required by the 25 of January 2013 and the reports can be sent to their email: disabilityrights@dwcpd.gov.za or also faxed to the offices of people with disabilities at 086416626.

Sephuma adds that government is then able to send the reports to the UN before the 31st of March.

Sephuma said the Minister would like to encourage all the members of the community and also members of the disability sector to read the report, to give their comments and send their comments on time.
