Durban inmate obtains 5 A’s in matric exams

Media reported that a Durban prison inmate has passed his matric examinations with five distinctions.

Westville Prison’s Chris Mazibuko was the top prison student, obtaining an average of 79.25%.

Minister of Transport’s Spokesperson Logan Maistry said that Minister Sibusiso Mdebele congratulated offenders for achieving a 79.25 % pass rate compared to 68.06 % in 2011.

“Of the 53 inmates who wrote exams in 2012, the best inmate was from KwaZulu Natal who achieved a 79.25 % standard” Maistry added.
