The Freedom of Expression Institute has come out and stated that the ANC’s reaction to the FNB advert is showing intolerance of views which might be uncomfortable and critical.

FXI’s Executive Director Phenyo Butale said the ANC is free to disagree with and criticize FNB, but it has done in a way that is threatening debate and discussion.

Butale adds that in their view FNB was only giving a voice to a view from a young South Africans that appears to be a useful contribution to our national debate to not normally hear enough of this voices and opinions from young people.

Butale adds that the FXI believe that it is useful and valuable to bring such views to the fore it means they are critical.

Butale furthermore FXI thinks that the criticism of the FNB advertisement from the ANC and its alliance partners is really a sign of intolerance of views which might be really uncomfortable and critical.
