Home Affairs team visited shack fire victims in Khayelitsha

The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor visited the shack fire victims in Khayelitsha today.

Pandor was leading the home affairs team that was issuing temporary Identity Documents to the fire victims.

The meeting was held at the O.R Tambo Hall, Mew Way in Khayelitsha.

Over 3000 people were left homeless on Tuesday morning when their shacks were destroyed by fire.

Three people were reported dead and several others injured.

Pandor thanked all the organisations that gave assistance to the victims.

Pandor adds that the shack fire victims have experience a great deal of pain and people need to understand that things take time to get to a point of satisfaction.

The team included the South African Social Security Agency Officials.

Over the weekend, police were performing stop-and-search operations in Harare when they heard gunshots and followed the sound to a church. ...
