Inmates congratulated on their matric pass rate

The Correctional Services Minister Sibusiso Ndebele congratulated inmates on achieving 79,25% pass rate in the 2012 National Senior Certificate examinations.

In 2011 the inmates had 68,06% pass rate.

Ministry Spokesperson Logan Maistry said that the best performing inmate was Chris Phumulani Mazibuko from the UseThubeni Youth School at Durban Westville Youth Centre, who achieved five distinctions.

Maistry said the best performing Correctional Centre School was Johannesburg Correctional Centre School which achieved 94,11% pass rate.
