The Democratic Alliance has called on the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to break her silence about the possible impact of the cancellation of the Aero Manpower Group contract.

AMG for the last few years has been providing personnel to maintain and repair the aircraft belonging to the South African Air Force.

DA’s Shadow Minister of Defence and Military Veterans David Maynier said the DA believes that the Minister should appear before the Joint Standing Committee on Defence to explain the consequences and contingency plans in place.

Maynier added that the evidence proves that if the Air Force looses the 523 technicians it could be grounded.
