Western Cape Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith has announced that the cameras on the N2 bus and minibus taxi lane will be reinstated as of next month.

Smith said with the cameras being switched on again it would help reduce speed and also prevent motor vehicles from traveling in the lane.

Smith said that the cameras and speed over distance cameras will be combined to make sure the speed in the bus lane is safe.

“This combined with the manual enforcement will hopefully get us a bit closer with getting proper compliance with the bus lane and see fewer private residential vehicles in the lane” Smith said.
