The Democratic Alliance in Limpopo has called for Education Minister Angie Motshekga to break her three week silence on chronic textbook shortages in Limpopo.

Since the Democratic Alliance uncovered a Polokwane warehouse stacked with 1000’s of books on 6 February, not a single word has been heard from the Minister.

DA Provincial Leader Desiree Van Der Walt said this silence cannot continue now that a shortage of 42 000 books in Limpopo has been confirmed by the Federation of School Governing Bodies of South Africa.

Van Der Walt said last week the Democratic Alliance requested a roundtable discussion with the department but they never responded.

Today media reports quoted the Education Department Spokesperson Panyaza Lesufi as saying there is a shortage of textbooks in Limpopo.

Van Der Walt added that they want the department to public apologize for them liars.
