Corruption Watch said there is high tender fraud in provincial health departments.

Reports revealed that small town hospitals had incidences of nepotism, where managers give jobs to family members and human resources officials selling jobs.

Minister of Health Aaron Motsoaledi is said to have confirmed that a corruption at hospitals lead to difficulties on running hospitals, even leading to a shortage of medical supplies.

Corruption Watch’s Bongi Mmangeni said out of the reports Corruption Watch had received, only 5% were about health.

“We have found that most of the corruption in health occurred at provincial departments” Mmangeni said.

Mmangeni said that 60% of the reports on health showed that provincial departments appeared to involved with tender procurement issues.
