The Congress of South African Trade Union today said it has noted the announcement by Mamphela Ramphele that she is launching a new party.

Ramphele on Monday launched the Agang SA party in Johannesburg, with political analysts saying the announcement is a welcomed development in the country’s political landscape.

Cosatu said it welcome any new party, providing the electorate with new and different choices, but they see no future for the party.

Cosatu National Spokesperson Patrick Craven said Agang is not the one the will solve the problems that the country is facing.

Craven said looking at the track record of the person behind the party, it does not bode well with the workers, because she has been the Managing Director of the World bank and also a Chairperson of Gold Fields.
