Since the beginning of the year there have been reports that some schools in Limpopo have not received their textbooks.

The Education Department has denied these reports on that they are not true. Department Spokesperson Panyaza Lesufi said the principals that claim that they have not received textbooks are liars.

The Democratic Alliance in the Province has challenged the Department on a roundtable discussion.

DA`s Desiree van der Walt said that Lesufi has been downplaying the textbook shortage problem.

“During that time, he has changed basically from saying literally all schools have received books, a day later said two to three percent of schools have shortages and then said 80 percent of the textbook shortage problem has been addressed” van der Walt added.
