The Democratic Alliance said the Compensation fund is in a state of chaos and needs to be placed under administration by the Department of Labour.

The DA Shadow minister of Labour Sejamothopo Motau said he will write to the labour minister, Mildred Oliphant and the director general of the labour department, Nkosinati Nhlekoto to request a joint meeting to discuss this option as a possible solution.

Motau explains said that their concern as the DA is that the compensation fund is struggling.

Motau said they have been receiving threatening letters from doctors who have not being paid in time, saying that they will refuse to assist compensation fund patients.

“The implications of that kind of thing is serious that people can not lodge their applications for compensation, so we believe if we do not do something very quickly working together with the Department of Labour” Motau added.
