The Gauteng Health Department on Sunday it would be calling in the South African Revenue Service to audit overtime claims submitted by doctors in several hospitals.

Department spokesperson Simon Zwane said they have noticed some irregularities in the overtime claims by some doctors in certain hospitals.

Zwane said that the Department wants to be advised as to whether there are irregularities in the claims; and if so what action it could take.

“These claims are so excessive that they are putting pressure on our budget and threatening the financial stability of the department” Zwane added.
