Refinery explosion under investigation

The Department of Labour in the Western Cape on Monday said it has launched its formal investigation into the explosion that occurred at the Chevron Refinery on Friday afternoon.

The cause of the explosion is still unknown at this stage. 

Labour Departments Candice van Reenen said the Department`s investigation has started already.

She added that indications point to that the explosion took place within a diesel vessel.
