The Democratic Alliance said Parliament has little knowledge of almost R4 billion that the State Security Agency will be given this year by treasury.

DA Minister of State Security Agency Theo Coetzee said Members of Parliament are unable to properly monitor spending and ensure that irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure is minimised.

Coetzee said the added concern that nobody knows of is the secret accounts of all the agencies.

“We have seen this and the abuse of that in the crime intelligence of the SAPS when they have used that money to build of walls around of minister’s houses” Coetzee added.

Coetzee also said this is another topic that needed more attention and more insight.
