Farmworkers march to Parliament

Farmworkers from all over the Western Cape are expected to march to Parliament.

They are demanding a wage R150; they also want housing, electricity and land amongst other things.

The Farm Worker Coalition said the workers never officially accepted the sectoral determination by the Minister of Labour of R105 per day.

Farm Worker Coalition’s Ronald Wesso said all farmers across the province are applying exemption, forcing workers to sign an agreement.

Wesso added that they are dismissing workers who were leading during a strike and using racist tactics dividing black and coloured people.

Wesso further added they are calling on government to step in and make sure farm workers get what they deserve.
