Five Pakistani nationals died in Mitchell’s Plain shooting on Tuesday

An investigation is underway after five Pakistani nationals were shot dead in a house robbery in Rocklands, Mitchell’s Plain on Tuesday night. 

Police Spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana said two unidentified men entered the house which was also allegedly used as a bakery, and demanded access to the safe. 

The two men fired shots at six occupants. 

A case of murder and house robbery is being investigated. 

Kinana said four people were killed during the shooting and two were critically injured and taken to hospital, where one of them died.

“During the incident, the attackers took a safe and fled the scene; a 28 year old man has been arrested and will appear at the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate Court” Kinana added.

Kinana also said that the motive of the murder is not known.
