The Western Cape MEC of Human Settlements Bonginkosi Madikizela will today be handing over houses to two beneficiaries with special needs in Khayelitsha.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bruce Oom said the department during the 16 Days of Activism in 2012 committed itself to build homes in Liltha Park for two families headed by a disabled parent.

Oom said the first family is headed by Mr Dingiswayo, who has been living in a shack erected on the pavement in Khayelitsha.

“Mr Dingiswayo, who is taken care of by his wife, is wheel chair bound after having lost a leg and having a stroke, and found it very difficult to access shared sanitation services,” Said Oom

Oom added that the second family is headed Mr Miggels was involved in a motor vehicle accident in 1997.

“As a disabled person he encounters extreme difficulties to get to the ground floor and back of his 3rd floor council apartment. Mr Miggels wife is his caretaker and they both survive on a government Disability grant,” said Oom
